Terrängbil m/42 SKPF

This is a Swedish APC called Terrängbil m/42 SKPF. It has its origins in the 1940's and was built on Scania and Volvo chassis. The S in the name tell that this is a Scania, a Volvo would have the suffix VKPF.
(Model finished around 1992)

There is an external difference between the Volvo and the Scania. The winch is placed on the left side on the Scania (which is visible on this photo). Tgb means cross-country vehicle/terrain vehicle, KP stands for armoured body and the F was the anti-aircraft mg´s.

The model was meant to depict a vehicle used by Swedish UN-troops in Kongo in the early 1960´th. Later on, when the peace keeping mission turned in to an regular war, the vehicles was camouflaged.

In Sweden the vehicles were called: KP-bilen (the KP-car) or Likkistan (the coffin, which it really resembles). The model is scratch built on a Esci Opel Blitz chassie. The first time I entered a model in the IPMS-Open was 1993 and it was this model. It was also the first entry on my homepage when I started it 1998 so it is really time for it to be present here.

Terrängbil m/42 VKP

I have a box of second hand built Kjell Svensson resin kits. I am stripping them of paint for future reuse. Time has come for a KP-bil "The coffin". They were built on both Scania and Volvo chassis and as I have two Scania's on the shelf I thought that I should convert this one to a Volvo. The main visible future is the winch. I managed to disassemble it without breaking anything but the material is rock hard. Finally I got a hole in the side.
(Model finished 2023)

Work goes on with the Volvo KP-car. I will cheat and hide the mess I'm doing with the winch modification by adding a tarp.

Now I need to build the winch before it is time for paint.

With a winch built and other details in place

it was time for a first coat of paint but then the compressor broke so it came to an halt (again).

But now I'm back on track and have some more paint on it.

Getting closer to finish.

But I think that I need to find some war time pictures. I'm not sure about the lights on it.
