I was doing some out of the box builds while waiting for inspiration to bring out the saw and cut some plastic up. |
For some reason Hasegawa made a twin pack boxing of this kit and I had an idea of building one in military colours but with the lack of decals I opted for the scheme in the box for both planes. |
I built them straight out of the box. Not an easy thing for me to do.
|
"Kamikaze" and "Asakaze" from the Asashi newspaper company. |
"Kamikaze" made a flight between Tokyo and London, for the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, between 6 April 1937 and 9 April 1937 in a flight time of 51 hours, 17 minutes and 23 seconds, a world record at the time. |
I mounted "Kamikaze" on a stand from one of the old Hasegawa Egg planes. I marked the route for the record flight on the globe. |
On a model show I found another "Babs" second hand and it was so cheap that I had to buy it.
|
I was going to build it straight out of the box in the camouflage scheme on the box art but found a picture of a plane from the Red Army of China Air Force. |
I had a decal sheet from Blue Rider and used the small roundels from all three planes on the sheet for this. The red and white stripes was painted. |
